Intending Pilgrims Attended Hajj Briefing Session

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: As a preparation for intending hajj pilgrims of Brunei for Hajj session 1435 Hijrah/201, the Ministry of Health through the Hajj Medical Services Unit of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital and the cooperation of Hajj Management Department held a health briefing session for the hajj pilgrims yesterday, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

Hajj Managing Director, Awg Hj Abd Kahar Hj Hussain stressed on the importance of looking after one’s health state before departing to Makkah and to have a clear understanding on the conditions in Makkah, Madinah, Mina and Arafah, which will be different from the country.

The pilgrims were also advised to conduct their hajj wisely and not exceed one’s capability, which can affect their health if forced to perform beyond their individual limits. The pilgrims were also urged to ask for doctor’s advice.

In the first session, the Senior Medical Consultant who also led the delegation for hajj medical team this year, Associate Professor Dr Hj Md Shafiq Abdullah, in his talk explained on the steps to be taken in order for the health condition of the hajj pilgrims is at the optimum level before departing and during their stay at the holy land.

Dr Hj Md Shafiq also highlighted on illness that always occurred on all pilgrims including the women. In the second session, the Senior Medical Officer of Ministry of Health, Dr Hjh Zawatil Amal Hj Mat Don discussed on the health problems faced by women pilgrims.

This year, about twenty medical officers made up of six doctors and fourteen nurses were assigned to give medical services to the pilgrims at the Muslim Holy Land. Among the objectives of the briefing were to explain the available medical facilities at the Holy Land especially in Arafah and Mina and to give further understanding on the policy and rules of the Government of Saudi Arabia which should be obey by every intending pilgrim. The briefing was held at the Al-Afiah hall at the Health Complex Building at Jalan Menteri Besar.
