At Sungai Nyelong Market here, operators of Muslim food and drink stalls held `tahlil’ prayers led by Imam of the town’s Al-Mutaqqin Mosue, Yahya Osman, for the victims.

Spokesman for the event, Ibrahim Tuah, said that the event was a simple way to express their sympathy to the aggrieved families.

Every stall contributed food and drinks to cater to the over 50 people invited to the event.

Meanwhile, a similar event was organised by the staff of Sarikei and Bintangor Fire and Rescue Stations, involving 25 staff from the stations.

According to district Bomba chief Suna Kaha, the event was held simultaneously in all Bomba stations across the country as a mark of respect to the victims and as an expression of sympathy to the bereaved families.
