Community, leaders clean up Tebobon school

KOTA KINABALU: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tebobon has joined forces with the local community and leaders to clean up the area which has been littered with trash along the road leading to the school.

The school principal, Loh Kok Cheang, said the activity was initiated by the school’s Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) to maintain the cleanliness of the area which was littered with trash and debris and to protect the health of the students.

“The objective of the programme is to clean up the area, especially the trash along the road towards the school, while at the same time foster understanding and cooperation between the school, parents and the community,” Loh added.

Giving full support to the activity, Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid, who was also present during the activity here yesterday, complimented the effort of the community there.

Jainab, who is also Karambunai assemblywoman, said that she would look into the need to repair the road, construction of a covered walkway, a platform bridge and a street or road lamp.

Also involved in the gotong royong were SMK Tebobon PTA chairman Taidin Suhaimin and Tebobon village chief Laiman Guntorong.
