21 attend badminton umpire courses

KAPIT: The Kapit Badminton Association successfully conducted Umpire Level I and II Courses here from Aug 22-24.

The course facilitator was senior international referee from Kuala Lumpur, Yap Tee Loi.

The theory session was held at the Malaysian Red Crescent headquarters and the practical at the Bletih Stadium

A total of 21 umpires, including four from Song District, completed the courses. The written examination will be held at the Malaysian Red Crescent headquarters again on Aug 30.

ZulUsop, Deputy Kapit Resident, who officiated at the closing ceremony on Sunday, commented on the popularity of the game.

“Badminton is a very popular game in Kapit. I observed the Bletih Stadium is fully booked for badminton from early morning till evening. Even at 12 noon, I observed people played their badminton taking advantage of the lunch break”, he said.

Also present at the closing ceremony were association chairman David Chuo and his committee.
