Suspect’s fiancée remanded in connection with shooting at Soon Koh’s house

SIBU: The fiancée of the man who was among three suspects of the shooting at the house of Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh recently, has been detained.

Police are placing the 25-year-old woman under a five-day remand, beginning yesterday, after finding her statement given last Sunday, questionable.

Her fiancé, 29, his 57-year-old partially-paralysed father and another suspect, 26, are still in the lock-up.

The eldest of the three has been placed under remand for another 14 days, following the expiry of an earlier order last Sunday.

A special task force comprising various police departments here and the D6 Interrogation Unit from Kuching has been formed to investigate the case.

In the incident last Wednesday, a shot was fired at Soon Koh’s house in Ipoh Road here.

The minister’s wife Datin Sri Pauline Leong, son Dato Andrew Wong, daughter-in-law Datin Lily Toh and a few family members were at home when the shooting happened at 8.30pm.

The bullets were only discovered by Soon Koh’s family members the morning after. No one was hurt.
