Tala reports mining company activity to agency

PELAIHARI, South Kalimantan: Vice Regent of Tanah Laut (Tala), H Sukamta, said local governments have reported the mining management here to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Antaranews reported.

“On July 10, 2014 ago, the local government has submitted a report on the first phase about the management of mineral and coal mining in the District of Tanah Laut to KPK in Jakarta,” said H Sukamta, in Pelaihari, Sunday (24/8).

At the time of submission of the report, he said, the Commission stressed that local governments take immediate action, such as revocation sanction on commercial mining permit (IUP), if the time limit has been specified that IUP holder did not fulfill its obligations.

“Because in 2015, the target of all IUP in Tala clear and clean,” he said.

In this case, the vice regent hoped that all parties concerned to take note, especially the IUP holders to immediately fulfill their obligations.

Earlier, the Head of the Tala Forest Agency, Ir Ahmad Hairin, said a statement by the Ministry of Forestry of Indonesia No. 345/2009, forest area in Tala is 132,645 hectares consist of production forests, forest conversion, forest protection, integrated forest and production forest conversion.

“Of these, 27,662 hectares of forest area conversion, 15,861 hectares of protected forest, 5,250 hectares of forest integrated production, the production forest of 71 658 hectares and 12,174 hectares of production forest conversion,” said Hairin.

As a result of mining activities and plantations, forests in the area in the last few years began to decrease. In one year based on the calculation of Forest Agency, there are 4,000 hectares of forest were affected and it is certainly of concern to all parties.
