This was mentioned by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud during a Hi-Tea session at the Hilton Kuching Hotel here yesterday, saying the future of our young and developing country lies in their hands.

“I have always enjoyed coming and giving my speech to groups like yours in the past. The reason is simple, I want to share my thoughts and also get your feedback.

“It is not only my duty but also my pleasure to share my thoughts in serving this country to contribute to unity and also implement ideas so we can move forward and improve our country more and more to something we want it to be.” Taib said to the 120 youths present yesterday.

He also explained that the state’s progress was due to the efforts and cooperation of the people from different races.

On Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), he said it can improve the state’s economic future.

“Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) provides 300,000 job opportunities where 50,000 jobs require professionals at least holding a diploma,” he said.

After his speech, the youths had the opportunity to have a free and easy interaction with Taib.

Among those present were Assistant Minister of Youth Development Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and representatives from 20 organisations consisting of agencies, companies, colleges, universities and also NGOs.

The event was organised by Ouryouth.my, a Sarawak-based internet portal, to give bright young entrepreneurs and youths the opportunity to meet and mingle with the Head of State and also to celebrate the National Day (or Merdeka Day).

Ouryouth.my is dedicated to the development of youths regardless of race and religion. It was initiated by the director of Conqueror’s Vision Sdn Bhd, Datuk Patrick Liew, with a simple goal to contribute back to the community by putting more light in the tunnel for the youths’ future and also to bridge youths with society.
