Sanjung Etika top Samarahan football tourney

KUCHING: Samarahan Football Association (PBBS) president Haidel Heli was glad that the Resident’s Cup football tournament was successfully concluded last weekend.

The annual event, organised by the divisional association, attracted teams from all over Samarahan.

“This year’s tournament was a success due to the fact that we received overwhelming response. PBBS will promise a better tournament next year,” Haidel said.

He added that the tournament was also meant to scout for talented players to represent the division.

“PBBS have been organising this tournament since 2011. It is one of the ways for us look at young and exciting new football talents in our division,” he added.

The challenge trophy went to Yayasan Sarawak’s Sanjung Etika which defeated Team Kickalob K2015 1-0 in the final played at the Samarahan Mini Stadium last Sunday.

Samarahan division resident Adul Rahman Sebli Sanusi was present to officiate in the prize-giving ceremony.

A total of seven teams participated in the tournament includsing Team Sambir Bistari, Samarahan Ocean Eagles FC, Kapaku FC, Logistic FC and Gedong FC.
