KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak Oil Palm Bhd’s pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2014 surged to RM48.41 million from RM4.65 million in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue rose to RM655.35 million from RM313.99 million previously.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the company said the better performance was attributed to improved palm products realised prices, increased palm product sales, and increased fresh fruit bunch production from plantation estates.

The company said moving forward, the performance would continue to be driven by the palm products price movement which is dependent on the world edible oil market, movement of the ringgit and economic situation. — Bernama
