Subramaniam said Kelantan was still recording the highest number of cases at 1,286 cases or 46 per cent while Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Sabah also showed increase of between 21 to 15 per cent.

He said Ops Mega which was conducted in the Klang Valley has succeeded in reducing the number of dengue cases in areas such as Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (59 per cent), Selangor (43 per cent) and Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (40 per cent).

“The number of hotspots also dropped such as Selangor from 88 locations to 75 and in Seremban from two localities to no locality and in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, there were no hotspots.

Subramaniam said as of last week, there were 736 active infection localities, including 377 localities in Selangor, 264 in Kelantan, 32 in Johor, 18 in the Federal Territory and 10 in Sarawak.

He said to assist the government to combat dengue, dialogues were held with 20 Medical Science Centres from public and private higher learning institutions on Monday in which they agreed to cooperate with the ministry to fight dengue.
