Police seize car from suspects in shooting case

SIBU: The police here yesterday seized a car from the house of suspects in Rejang Park in connection with their probe on the shooting at the house of Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.

The police did not immediately comment on the seizure as they had to get a forensic team to check on it first.

The car was seized by the police D4 unit at 11am.

Earlier, the police arrested three suspects, including a partially-paralysed father and his son, to help in their investigation into the shooting case.

Seized from the partially-paralysed man, aged 57, was a shot gun.

After their arrest, the fiancée of one of the suspects was also nabbed.

So far, the police have not commented on the outcome of the probe.

Last Aug 14, Wong’s family members realised a shot had been fired at their house at Ipoh Road.

Wong’s wife Datin Sri Pauline Leong, his son Datuk Andrew Wong and Andrew’s wife Datin Lily Loh and others were at home.

Earlier during the night, Leong said she heard an explosion while talking to her daughter in Australia on the phone but did not sense anything amiss.

The family realised a shot had been fired at the house the next morning when Andrew found shattered glasses on the floor of a room upstairs.

The police found shotgun pellets and a ball bearing containing over 70 pellets at the house compound.
