KUCHING: A woman lodged a police report on Tuesday after finding out that her 12-year-old daughter had allegedly been molested by a school groundskeeper.
The 38-year-old, who works as a cleaner, told police she was called to her daughter’s school around 8am and told about the alleged molestation.
It is believed the alleged incident occurred sometime in June during recess, when the groundskeeper called the Primary 6 pupil into a storeroom at the school and inserted his finger into her private part.
He then fondled her chest and warned her not to tell anyone about the matter before exiting the storeroom.
It is believed that the victim related the incident to a schoolmate, who then passed the information on to a teacher.
Acting on the report, a police team detained the suspect in his 30s at his house yesterday afternoon and will remand him to enable further investigation into the allegation.
