KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday the decision to name his wife, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as the only nominee for the post of Selangor menteri besar to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim was final.
He said he wanted all quarters, including PAS, to accept the decision that was made at the Pakatan Rakyat Presidential Council on Aug 17.
“I will appeal to them (PAS) to accept the Aug 17 decision of the council as final and ensure that the cooperation among the Pakatan component parties is upheld,” he said when approached after attending a court proceeding at the Courts Complex in Jalan Duta here.
Anwar acknowledged that the issue of the Selangor menteri besar had shaken the integrity of the opposition pact but he was convinced that it would do no harm if everyone respected and complied with the decision of the presidential council. — Bernama
