KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak Tun Razak does not rule out the possibility of meeting with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the former prime minister’s criticism of his administration.

“Whatever possibilities can occur…I hope it will end in a good way for Umno as a whole,” he told a media conference after chairing the Umno Supreme Council meeting at Menara Dato Onn here yesterday.

Najib was responding to a question on whether he would meet Tun Dr Mahathir following the latter’s criticism of his administrative policies through the blog www.chedet.cc recently.

Among the issues that the longest serving prime minister touched on was the issues of Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), Government Transformation Programme, 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) and the repeal of the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Describing the criticism as Umno’s internal problem, Najib hoped it could be handled and addressed appropriately.

The prime minister said the statements of several Umno leaders pertaining to Tun Mahathir prior to this also showed they gave full support to the current leadership.

“However at the same time, we also respect Tun Mahathir as a leader who is more experienced,” he said. — Bernama
