KUCHING: Sarawakian kick-boxer and muaythai fighter Trevor Salang has vowed to bring more glory to his beloved state.

He said he drew his inspiration from Sarawakians and he will do anything to make those who believe in him happy.

“I fight for Sarawak and all my victories are dedicated to Sarawak and the people of the state. I am also proud of my Dayak heritage as I firmly believe that it somewhat played a role the way I fight,” revealed the Miri native.

He is fully committed to a boxer’s life and he has no regrets since he made that decision a long time ago.

“Like most boxers in the state, we can’t afford to do any other day jobs as this will consume most of our time. A dedicated boxer in my opinion must devote most of his or her time in training,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Trevor’s latest achievement was winning the international invitational category at the TYT Yang Dipertua Negeri Sarawak Cup Muaythai Tournament held at the Stadium Perpaduan last week.

He defeated Egi Rozten from Indonesia.

“My opponent is from Jakarta and he has an impressive fight record. Before the match, I was wondering if I was well-prepared for the fight but I guess I was the hungrier of the two boxers on the ring that night,” he commented.

He laments the lack of a sparring partner in his hometown Miri.

So before the recent tournament, he made a trip to Phuket, Thailand to train with a few friends there.

Hence he would like to thank his sponsors and supporters  for their faith in him.
