This is the hope of Sarawak Golf Association (SGA) president Hoan Kee Hock.

Hoan, who was also the tournament organising chairman, was glad that it received tremendous response from golfers in the state.

“Our hope for this tournament is that it will be the platform for young and aspiring golfers to shine. Our hope is for this tournament to be recognised internationally one day,” he said.

He also revealed that some of the young and aspiring golfers in the state competed in the tournament against Sarawak’s finest professionals.

Four categories were competed in the tournament held at the Sarawak Golf Club (KGS) for three days from Aug 30 to Sep 1, namely Men’s Open (54 holes), Women’s Open (54 holes), VIP (18 holes) and Invited Guests (18 holes).

Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem and his wife Puan Sri Dato Jamilah Anu officiated at the closing and prize-giving ceremony at the club’s banquet hall.

Hyginus Kevin won the Invited Guest category and deputy state secretary Datu Misnu Taha won the VIP category.

A total of 240 golfers competed in the tournament.
