KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here yesterday set three days, from Jan 5 next year, to hear a defamation suit filed by Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail against Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution over the purchase of condominium units.

Justice Datuk Hue Siew Kheng fixed the date in chambers in the presence of lawyers Jeffrey John, representing Mohamad Salleh, and Azura Adnan, who appeared for Nurul Izzah and Saifuddin.

The case was fixed for case management today.

The suit will go for full trial following the failure of both parties to settle the case through a mediation process last Friday.

On Dec 24 last year, Mohamad Salleh, who is executive chairman of National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFCorp), and the company filed a suit claiming that Nurul Izzah had made a statement regarding the exposure by PKR strategic director Mohd Rafizi Ramli which alleged he (Mohamad Salleh) had bought eight condominium units at KL Eco City with public funds allocated to NFCorp.

Nurul Izzah’s statement was aired by Malaysiakini TV on March 7, 2012.

In his statement of claim, Mohamad Salleh stated that the statement implied that he and his family had misappropriated NFCorp funds to buy the condominiums for their personal use and not for the company. — Bernama
