KUCHING: A man of unsound mind is missing and feared to have jumped off a bridge after his abandoned motorcycle and other belongings were found in Batu Kawa yesterday.
Ho’s motorcycle is seen at the Batu Kawa police station.
Police identified the man as 42-year-old Ho Fook Kim from Taman Desa Moyan based on his identity card, which was found at the scene.
The incident was discovered around 6.15am, when a police patrol car came across Ho’s motorcycle parked in the middle of a bridge along Jalan Batu Kawah.
Police also found a pair of slippers at the edge of the bridge along with Ho’s wallet inside the basket of the motorcycle.
A subsequent check with those living along the riverbank revealed that no one had seen or heard anyone falling into the river.
Police managed to locate Ho’s elder brother, who revealed that the missing man was of unsound mind and had not been seen by family members for a while.
A search-and-rescue team comprising firefighters and marine police personnel launched an operation to scour the river for Ho, but did not spot any sign of him as of press time yesterday.
