KUCHING: The two Indonesians arrested on suspicion of being members of a drug syndicate last Friday, are in fact policemen.

The duo, aged 37 and 44, were nabbed at a hotel here by a team from the state Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) in connection with the seizure of over 3kg of drugs at Kuala
Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

This came a day after a woman from the Philippines, was apprehended at KLIA for possession of Syabu weighing 3.1kg valued at RM620,000.

“They have since been remanded for further investigation till Sept 6,” he said, adding that the case had been classified under Section 39 (B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s deputy consul here Marisa Febriana, said her office was prepared to cooperate with local police on the investigation.
