KUCHING: Sports nutrition is widely regarded as beneficial these days, with access to education, transparency and knowledge on the Internet that can quickly put to rest any myths or concerns.

“You can Google extensively to see the best brands out there, their international pricing and even better, any side effects,” said Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) president Dato Wee Hong Seng.

Wee was at the grand opening of BBS (Borneo Bodybuilding Supplement) store at Jalan Tabuan, their first in Sarawak. BBS expects to have their second store in Sibu ready by the end of the year.

The boom of the gym and fitness industry in recent years shows the increasing demand of proper workout supplements, Wee said.

“Never before have we so many more gyms in Kuching and more locals with the desire to lead healthier and happier lives with exercise. We cannot discount the happiness that exercise and its endorphins bring us. To be effective in your workout, apart from the right diet, proper supplements are also essential, especially if you’re looking to see results.”

Wee added that in past years, only a few brands of supplements were available in the Sarawak market, often with high price tags. This discouraged people from using proper supplements, causing them to turn to food alone — and sometimes steroids.

“This runs against the motto of SBBA. The emergence of BBS solved the problem by providing a variety of choices of high quality supplements and accessories.”

BBS is the official associate and supplier for SBBA.

BBS is a nutrition company retailing health and wellness products and accessories, including sports nutrition and diet products. Founded last year, they have expanded their products from five types to over 500 types. It is now the exclusive distributor in Malaysia for the USA brand ‘SAN’ and Swedish brand ‘Vitargo’.

“Over the last 10 years, consumer awareness of health and wellness issues has become broader.

“The focus on fitness among consumers of all ages has increased significantly, particularly those interested in sports nutrition products to increase energy, endurance, strength and speed of recovery from workouts.

“However, nutrition products available in the market are limited and expensive,” said BBS (Borneo Bodybuilding Supplement) director Wong Hock Siong.

BBS was founded to solve the problem and cater to the demand by providing a variety of choices to cater to different types of customers. More importantly, we can provide safe and reliable products to the consumer with reasonable prices, Wong added.

“We select innovative, high quality, clinically proven and superior performing products.”
