KOTA KINABALU: Three blocks of guest houses were destroyed in a fire at Mimpian Jadi Resort in Tuaran yesterday evening.

The fire, which started around 4.30pm, was believed to have destroyed several guestrooms, an administration office, storerooms and a couple of souvenir shops.

Fire and Rescue Services Department public relations officer Senior Assistant Superintendent Mohd Affendy Ramin, when contacted yesterday said five fire engines from Tuaran, Lintas and Sembulan were deployed to the scene after they received a distress call at 4.44pm.

“More than 30 Fire and Rescue personnel were involved in the operation and we managed to get the fire under control by 6.20pm,” he said

Mohd Affendy said investigation at the scene showed that three blocks were completely destroyed in the fire, but it was still too early to determine how many guestrooms were affected.

No casualty was reported while the cause of the fire and total loss are still under investigation.
