KENINGAU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Bingkor division is asking the government to expedite the release of the report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants and MyKad in the state.

Its division chief, Peter Jino Allion, said there are still many‘new’ Bumiputeras in the streets around the city and they are leading the number of original Bumiputeras in this state.

“In my capacity of PBS Bingkor chief, I am requesting the government to release the findings of the RCI report as soon as possible to avoid the negative perception of the people in this state, especially in my division,” he said in his keynote speech at the opening of the Bingkor and Liawan PBS divisions’ annual general meeting (AGM) held at the Keningau Regional Library Auditorium on Saturday.

The meeting was officiated by PBS president and Deputy Chief Minister cum Infrastructure Development Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.

Peter, who was retained uncontested for the division chief post, has asked the people to learn from the defeat of the BN candidate in Bingkor during the last general election.

He said it was a shock when the party lost the five seats it contested during the 13th general election and described it as a political tsunami for PBS.

“Bingkor was lost to the opposition from the Star party and I hope the leadership of PBS and the state Barisan Nasional (BN) will examine the causes of this defeat and try to recapture the lost seats in the coming 14th general election.

“Party members should learn from this defeat to be more committed and moving forward in the struggle to remain faithful to the party and BN.

“I also hoped that in the coming general election, PBS Bingkor would be given the opportunity to contest to recapture this seat from Star,”he said.

Peter said he did not want Bingkor to become like the opposition area where no development is brought in by the representatives and as a result the people who supported the struggle of the BN government also suffered in terms of development.

He said the leadership and people of Bingkor PBS were fortunate that the Keningau parliamentary seat was won so that at least a portion of Keningau member of parliament Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan’s allocation is channeled for the development of the area.

Peter also indicated his surprise that after almost one year, the Bingkor Community Development Leader (PPM) had yet to be appointed besides a number of positions for community leaders in the area.

“I am asking the government and the state BN leadership to give PBS the opportunity to fill the post of PPM in the Bingkor area,”he said.

Peter also asked the government to investigate the issue on the formation of Malaysia that is being widely discussed in the social media.

He said the formation of Malaysia is still relevant and remains relevant to the struggle of PBS.

“We do not want this issue to be manipulated by the opposition who always look out for faults and weaknesses of the ruling BN government,”he said.

He described the action of the opposition to make replica oath stone as an affront to the native customs of the people of Sabah.

As a party representing all races and religions in the state, PBS is committed in struggling for the rights of the natives and to respect customs of the society in the state, especially Keningau and interior area.
