KENINGAU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Liawan chief Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin said that PBS is still relevant in the struggle to defend and uphold the rights and the fate of the future of the people in this state.

“Brand PBS is not easily forgotten by the people, especially members of the party,” he said in his keynote speech during the opening of Bingkor and Liawan PBS divisions’ annual general meeting here on Saturday.

He said the party members should at all times be loyal and supportive of the party in defending the rights of citizens of this state.

According to him, the 13th general election sent an important message to PBS members to close ranks and continue to strengthen the party’s struggle.

“GE13 has opened the eyes and minds of party members to remain united again in a big family in order to ensure that the lost seats in the election can be redeemed back in the coming general election,” he said.

To restore the glory of PBS, he said members must dare to face the challenge and if necessary create reform in the party with a strategy that takes into consideration the weaknesses of the party at the grassroots level.

He said members should show sincerity, courage to give ideas and suggestions that can lead the power struggles of the party.

Jake said there should be the spirit of cooperation and tolerance with giving priority to the party’s interest to ensure that PBS continues to be relevant and respected by colleagues in the BN coalition.

“Members need to continue efforts to ensure that the contribution of the party will remain on the right track in the state and country’s administration.

“The BN government is concerned about the interests of people and a lot of development has been extended for the convenience of the people in the state,” he said.
