BNN conducts urine test on prison occupants

PARINGIN, South Kalimantan: The Balangan Chapter of National Narcotics Agency (BNN) again conducted urine test on the occupants of prisons Class III Tanjung, Tabalong, and prisons Class IIB Amuntai, North Hulu Sungai, Antaranews reported.

Chief Superintendent of BNN Balangan Abdul Muttalib in Paringin on Thursday said urine tests conducted at Tanjung on Wednesday (10/9) involving 40 officers, while in Amuntai it has been implemented by the end of August, 2014.

“We do urine tests to prevent trafficking and drug abuse in Banua Anam, beside at LP (jailhouse) Class III Cape, tests have also been carried out in the LP Class IIB Amuntai,” he said.

Not only examine 40 correctional officers, BNN Balangan also conduct urine tests on 135 prisoners to determine whether or not there is drug use.

Of urine tests in the LP Class IIB Amuntai, 10 positively detected using drugs with the details, nine people tested positive withmethampetamine the other positive with benzodiazepines.

“From the test results we found four officers of the Amuntai and Tanjung Prison positive containing addictive substances, psychotropic and narcotic,” he said.

BNN involving health analyst from the Balangan Health Agency to determine the content of the urine taken.

Head of the Class III Tanjung Prison Sugito said officers who were positive will be given guidance and discipline, so as to give deterrent effect to the relevant.

Head of the Class IIB Amuntai Prison Muhammad Arsyad said it will follow up the results of urine tests to make sure the officer in question, as the positive active user or not.
