CM among 622 others conferred state awards in conjunction with TYT’s birthday
KUCHING: Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem heads a list of 623 people conferred state awards in conjunction with the official birthday of the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud today.
The chief minister and former Bosnia Herzegovina president, Dr Haris Silajdzic, are conferred the state’s second highest award, Datuk Patinggi Bintang Kenyalang (DP), which carries the title ‘Datuk Patinggi’.
Tan Sri Yaw Teck Seng of Samling Group is the sole recipient of the Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang (D.A) award, which carries the title `Datuk Amar’.
Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Seri Shafie Updal, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Brunei’s Foreign and Commerce Minister II Pehin Orang Kaya Datuk Paduka Awang Lim Jock Seng, and Jurutera Perunding Wahba Sdn Bhd executive chairman Dato Wahab Suhaili are conferred the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title `Dato Sri’.
The Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK) award, which carries the title `Datuk’, is bestowed on Dayang Enterprise Holding Sdn executive deputy chairman Ling Suk Kiong.
State Agriculture Department director Lai Kui Fong, State Accountant Jumastapha Lamat, and Thomas Akin Jelimin of the State’s Native Court get the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS) award, which carries the title `Datu’.
The five recipients for the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) award, which carries the title ‘Dato’, are Major General Dato Pahlawan Abdul Nasser Ahmad, Datin Catherine Kelo Isa, Dr Sim Soon Liang, Alice Jawan Empaling, and Vincent Yeo Siew Hee.
There are five recipients of the Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS), eight recipients of the Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK), three recipients of the Pingkat Perkhimatan Cemerlang (Emas) (PPC), 28 recipients of Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS), and 30 recipients of the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK).
As for the Pingat Penghidmatan Bakti (Perak, PPB), there are 49 recipients. There are 185 recipients for the Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS), including The Borneo Post’s chief reporter Churchill Edward Drem.
There are 42 recipients of the Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK), 104 recipients of the Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji Gangsa (PPT), and 153 recipients of the Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS).
Meanwhile, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, on official duty in Munich,
Germany, said, “This is the first big award that I get from the state. A thousand thanks to the chief minister for the recommendation and to the TYT for graciously granting the PNBS.
“My family and I are greatly honoured. This (award) will certainly motivate me to work harder for the state and nation. It is unfortunate that my work assignment has brought me 8,000 miles away from home to receive the grand honour from the TYT.
“I feel on top of the world, happy, encouraged, and rejuvenated,” he said.
