KOTA KINABALU: The State Government will ensure fair treatment to residents at Jalan Osman Shariff, who have to vacate their homes to make way for the construction of the new Kota Kinabalu High Court Building.

Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Hajiji Noor said the locals affected will be assisted and relocated to People Housing Programme (PPR) houses in Kinarut, Putatan before the project begins.

“We will give opportunity to those residing in the area to relocate and take PPR houses available,” he said to reporters when met after receiving the Malaysia Day Cycling contingent at the State Assembly Building here, yesterday.

Hajiji said the authorities were concerned towards the welfare of the people affected and will take responsible actions while ensuring that the project to construct the crucial facility would be completed without delays.

The government in June last year allocated RM175 million for the project to replace the existing High Court building in the City Centre. The project was expected to be fully completed within three years.

The Malaysia Day Cycling programme was jointly organized by the Biro Tatanegara, Youth and Sports Ministry and local cycling clubs, and participated by some 600 cyclists including from Sarawak and Brunei.
