KUALA LUMPUR: The police have recorded statements of seven people to facilitate investigations into the leakage of question papers for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination for Science and English.

They comprise six officers of the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate (LPN) and a journalist.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Gan Kong Meng said the police were gathering evidence from numerous quarters to identify the culprits behind the incident.

“To date, seven statements have been taken to assist in investigations. There has been no arrest, thus far,” he said when contacted by Bernama yesterday.

Following the leakage, the 014/1 and 014/2 English examination papers were cancelled after pupils sat for the examination on Thursday, while the 018, 028 and 038 Science examination papers were postponed before pupils sat for them, also on Thursday.

The examinations syndicate had fixed Sept 30 as a new date for the examination for the two papers.

On Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also education minister, announced that examinations syndidate director Dr Na’imah Ishak and operations deputy director, Dr Wan Ilias Wan Salleh were suspended, with immediate effect, until investigation into the leakage was completed. — Bernama
