Nine suspected prostitutes detained

KOTA KINABALU: Nine foreign women, aged between 24 to 38 years old, were arrested for alleged involvement in vice activities during Ops Cantas Noda conducted here over the weekend.

City police chief ACP M. Chandra disclosed that police raided a hotel room at KK Times Square at 7.40pm on Saturday and nabbed a 45-year-old China woman and seized a used condom, an unused condom and RM150 cash in the room.

Police also arrested a 37-year-old Chinese national in another hotel room at KK Times Square and found two unused condoms and RM150 cash.

Another raid was carried out at 11.50pm on the same night at a karaoke lounge in Kepayan Perdana Commercial Centre.

Police documented 16 men and four women, of which one was tested positive for drugs.

A third raid was carried out at an entertainment outlet in Cyber Square, Kepayan at 12.15am on Sunday, where police arrested a 24-year-old man, believed to be the premises owner, along with six foreign women, aged between 24 and 38 years old. Three of them were found without proper documentation.

Chandra said police also seized a record book with the workers’ details and seven samples of the ladies drink at the outlet.

He added that 16 men and eight women at the outlet were documented, while three were tested positive for drugs.
