Police catches water thief

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: North Banjarmasin Sector Police arrested a citizen suspected stealing water taps from regional water-taps company PDAM Bandarmasih, Antaranews reported.

“We captured him on Monday (8/9), and now he is in our custody,” said Chief of North Banjarmasin Sector Police AKP Fahmi Ansyori on Thursday.

Police arrested him as a result of reports of PDAM that the theft of water taps was very detrimental. “We arrested him at his house,” he said.

The arrest went smoothly without resistance from the suspect, said Fahmi.

The perpetrator violated Article 362 of the Criminal Code on stealing and punishable with 5 years  imprisonment.

Director of PDAM Bandarmasih H Muslih confirmed the company had reported a citizen to the police for stealing water taps causing a loss of Rp25 million.

“He (the suspect) stole the water taps without meters, for sale,” he explained.
