Village head dies in motorcycle collision

Police on hand at the scene investigating the road accident that killed the petrol station worker.

KUCHING: Village head of Kampung Stabut, Padawan, Sator Daris, 67, was killed after his motorcycle collided with another bike near Kampung Simpok at Jalan Padawan here yesterday.

According to sources, Sator, with his wife riding pillion, was heading for Siburan when the accident struck around 2pm.

The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene following the impact of the collision while his 65-year-old wife injured her left arm.

The other motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, escaped with minor injuries.

In a separate case, a petrol station worker found lifeless not far from his bike was believed to have been involved in a road accident at Mile 36 Kuching-Serian Road.

The deceased was identified as Sati Constances, 20, from Kampung Tarat Mawang, Serian.

Sati, who was said to be heading home after working night shift, apparently rammed his bike into a lamp post before succumbing to serious injuries.

It was also learnt that he was dead a few hours prior to the discovery of his body.

In both accident cases, the deceased were sent to Sarawak General Hospital for postmortem.
