10,000-strong crowd at 916 countdown

MIRI: Some 10,000 revellers from all walks of life thronged Jalan Parry on Monday for the 916 Malaysia Day Street Party countdown.

International artistes Barbie Girls from Korea and Astro singing sensations Chloe Chan and Christine Chua as well as Akademia Fantasia’s Nadia were among those who thrilled the crowd with their performances.

The crowd also had the opportunity to meet two Universo Robots from Spain.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, who represented Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, said he was happy to see thousands gathered to commemorate Malaysia Day.

Prior to the countdown, Jabu also declared open the Pictorial Expo at Permaisuri Imperial Mall in conjunction with Malaysia Day.

The event was jointly organised by Miri City Council and Imperial Hotel Group of Companies and Shin Yang Sports Club.
