SIBU: Malaysia Handicraft Development Corporation (MHDC) will be organising a handicraft promotion themed “Buy Malaysian Goods” at Wisma Sanyan in Sibu.
The event, aimed at encouraging local entrepreneurs and to promote and market their products, will be held from Sept 19 to 28 from 10am to 10pm daily.
It is also aimed at highlighting the local handcraft and promoting interest in its daily life usage.
Tourists will be encouraged to get the items as souvenirs, MHDC said.
Available at the promotion are sales of handicraft from more than 20 handicraft entrepreneurs from Sarawak and West Malaysia in various industries including that of the Batik, Songket and Pua.
Other items at the event are accessories made of beads as well as jewelries like rings and other crafts including henna paintings, baskets and traditional costumes of the ethnic groups.
There will also be bamboo woven baskets and bags woven from pandan leaves.
