KUCHING: The so-called ‘Blue Army’ of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) will uphold its new president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian’s uncompromising stance on the candidacy in constituencies, including new ones, allocated by Barisan Nasional (BN) to the party.

Blue Army leader Milton Foo also called upon his comrades across all levels to support Dr Sim in defending SUPP’s interest and dignity.

“A political party without any principle is doomed to fail,” Foo, who is a lawyer, said in a press statement yesterday.

“The Blue Army reiterates that the new generation is ready to and shall, at all costs, uphold the party’s interest and principles.

“It also calls for all BN component parties to reconsolidate under the BN spirit, which has long been adhered to and practised by all component parties.

“A break of such spirit could bring irreparable damage to BN unity and the foundation of its solidarity.

“The Blue Army also feels blessed and thankful to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for saying that he would stand along with the party and render to it his full support, in his speech during SUPP Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) a week ago. He sees SUPP as a loyal partner in BN and hoping for it to grow stronger in order to regain its former glory,” he said.

Foo also mentioned that Najib would assist the state’s first political party with 55 years of historical legacy, together with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem to ensure that it would rise from hardships and detriments.

“It is now the new era for SUPP, with its new leadership, to determine its fate in the next state election. It needs the solidarity and determination from all members towards the mission to win back the seats it had lost.

“The Blue Army will always stand firm with the people’s rights and interests, acting as a pressure body to perform checks and balances on the government, as well as on BN policies – without fear or favour,” he said.
