BINTULU: The winning mentality has been infused among players and officials representing Bintulu in the upcoming Sarawak Cup from Sept 20-27.

Assistant Minister of Public Utilities (Electricity and Telecommunications) Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi is expecting them to“aim for the sky.”

“You want to go because you want to win; if not, then don’t go.”

The Kemena assemblyman was handing over the flag to the contingent at Kidurong Club here on Sunday.

Dr Rundi, however, that success could not be achieved without teamwork.

“Even in politics – for example, in Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) – we emphasise on the winning mentality.

“Of course there are ‘stars’ in the team but they will shine only if their side is being developed holistically,” he explained, urging the players to see each other as “brothers”.

Dr Rundi has also offered a RM10,000 incentive to the Bintulu team in the event they succeed in winning the state title.

The squad has Arnie Mantali as manager, Mohammad Tuah Ismail as head coach and Abdullah Tuah as assistant coach.

Also present at the handover ceremony were Bintulu Resident Muhamad Yakup Kari, Bintulu Football Association president Duke Janteng, Public Works Department engineer Wisil Licok and Pemanca Rosli Kamaruddin.
