Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem was there to witness the event that was recorded in the Malaysia Book of Records.

It was held at the arrival hall of Miri Airport and was specially held in conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebration which is centred here.

Federation of Miri Division Chinese Association chairman Hii Teck Yun, its youth leader Ang Lip Chuan and Malaysia Book of Records officer Suhaila Shamsuddin were also present to witness the occasion.

Also present was Adenan’s wife Datin Patinggi Jamilah Anu, who also helped Adenan to complete the last 16 gold coins in order to break the Malaysia Book of Records.

When met, Ang said the feat was made possible through close team work and it was their idea of celebrating Malaysia Day here.

“We also raised some funds meant for charitable bodies here,” he said.

He added that more than 100 people were involved in the challenge to set a record and to raise funds for SMK Chung Hua, Pei Ming Middle School, Riam Road Secondary School, Pusat Dalam Komuniti Miri, Miri Sun Flower Centre, Miri Autistic Centre and Methodist House of Hope. They started work on the project on Sept 9.

Adenan and his wife were here together with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and state and federal cabinet ministers to celebrate Malaysia Day at Miri City Fan yesterday.
