Couple in drug case remanded further

KUCHING: A married couple had their drug trafficking case adjourned to Oct 1 for pre-trial case management after it was mentioned at the High Court here yesterday.

Nurfifi Shuhada Mohamad, 24, and husband Faizal Ramzie, 33, were ordered to be further remanded as their offence under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952 is non-bailable.

The section provides for a mandatory death sentence if found guilty.

They are jointly charged with trafficking in 158.39g of syabu in King’s Centre at Jalan Tun Jugah at about 1.30pm on Feb 20.

A prosecution officer also applied to the court to have Nurfifi’s other case jointly tried with the first one.

Nurfifi, a local hospital administration staff, is also charged with trafficking in 126.59g of syabu
which was allegedly committed at the same time, date and place at the first case.

The allegation is also framed under Section 39B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.
