MIRI: Hii Tiong Huat, the protestor from Sibu, failed to attract the attention of the public when protesting against the construction of Marina Park –Waterfront link road here yesterday.
Fong walks away after Hii refused a photo opportunity.
The workers ignored him and continued with their works despite Hii standing and holding green placard written with the words ‘Ini ciptaan Tuhan yang tercinta siapakah berani memusnahkannya’ (This is God’s creation who dares to destroy it) complete with the translation in Mandarin. Hii also stuck a copy of a police report which he lodged on Sunday against the developer onto the placard.
In his report, he urged the police to investigate the legitimacy of the project and the developer and those directly and indirectly involved in the project.
He said he had proofs to support his claim. Members of the public at shophouses, offices and coffee shops described him as a ‘weirdo’.
He later met with members of the press to state his claim.
“I will stand here until I get the attention of the developer, his workers and the authorities concerned.’
However, less than three minutes later, he moved away and stood at divider of Jalan Bendahara after failing to attract the attention of the developer and project contractor.
Pujut assemblyman Fong Pau Teck who happened to be at the coffee shop where he usually conducts his mobile service centre was asked by the reporters for a photo opportunity with Hii.
Fong was given the cold treatment by Hii who refused to have a photograph be taken with him (Fong).
