The deceased was identified by police as Thian Wee Siong, 38, of Tabuan Heights in Kuching.

District police chief DSP Lee Chong Chern, who confirmed the accident, said initial investigation indicated Thian was riding alone when he lost control of his bike at KM14 Kota Samarahan-Tabuan Jaya road.

“The rider appeared to have lost control of his Honda CBR1000 superbike and hit a road divider before crashing into a roundabout. We believe he died on the spot as a result of the accident,” said Lee when contacted yesterday.

Police were notified of the accident after passing motorists spotted Thian next to his damaged bike around 6.30am.

Medical personnel summoned to the scene confirmed he had died.

His body was subsequently sent to the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching for a post mortem.
