KUCHING: Malaysian Red Crescent hopes to meet the demand for better community services through its annual MRC Sarawak Youth Volunteering Development Conference 2014.

A total of 158 participants and volunteers from the MRC including representatives from 11 chapters throughout Sarawak and the Sabah are participating in the three-day annual conference from yesterday until Sept 20.

The conference themed ‘Committed to Volunteering – Our Strength, Our Future’ focuses on volunteering development and management.

According to its organising chairman Chong Choon Chiang, volunteers had contributed greatly to the community in terms of humanitarian services for the past 65 years.

“We need a strong backing of skilled and trained volunteers to enhance the capacity of our organisation to stay competitive and deliver better service to the community,” Chong said.
