Brothers warded at SGH after road accident

KUCHING: A 15-year-old boy suffered spinal injuries while his younger brother broke his leg after a motorcycle they were riding collided with a car in Asajaya on Wednesday.

The brothers arrive at SGH for further treatment following the accident on Wednesday.

The pair was said to be heading to a temple not far from their house around 4.30pm when their motorcycle, ridden by the elder sibling, collided with a Proton car travelling in the opposite direction.

The 15-year-old was left with injuries to his spine following the accident, while his 14-year-old brother was left with a broken right leg.

Both were initially sent to a nearby government clinic before being transferred to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here for further treatment.

In another accident also on Wednesday, a restaurant waiter sustained head injuries after his motorcycle crashed into a stationary van at Mile 9 Kuching-Serian Road.

The 21-year-old was heading back to his quarters after spending his day off searching for clams when the incident occurred around 6pm.

According to witnesses, the victim was travelling on the fast lane when he slammed into the rear of a stationary van, which had apparently broken down and left there by its owner.

An ambulance was called to the scene to send the victim to SGH where he was admitted into the Red Zone.

Meanwhile, a third motorcyclist was also admitted to SGH after he crashed while descending the Satok flyover yesterday morning.

The 18-year-old victim from Malihah was travelling from Satok towards the Sarawak Museum when the incident happened around 8am.

A member of the Civil Defence Department, who happened to be using the same road, stopped to assist the victim and also called for an ambulance.

The victim sustained head injuries and was also admitted into the Red Zone for further treatment.
