BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Banjarmasin and surrounding areas in South Kalimantan on Friday morning shrouded in haze with visibility about 500-1000 meters, Antaranews reported.

Syamsudin Noor Airport Duty Officer, Suparmono, in Banjarbaru City, Tuesday (16/9), said the cause of flight delays due to the limited visibility due to smog.

“The runway visibility below 300 meters, whereas the minimum distance of 500 meters so that the airlines asked to delay departure as it is endangering flight,” he said.

He said two of the seven flight departure delayed from the scheduled were Garuda destination Jakarta as scheduled take off at 06.00 am was postponed to 09:00 am. Then, Lion Air to Jakarta was delayed three hours from the schedule at 06:15 into 09:10.
