30 attend BAM National Badminton Coaching Course Level I

KUCHING: Thirty participants including trainee teachers, teachers and badminton enthusiasts attended the BAM National Badminton Coaching Course Level I at IPG Kampus Tun Abdul Razak (IPGKTAR), Samarahan recently.

The course jointly organised by IPGKTAR and the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) was aimed at increasing the pool of qualified badminton coaches in Sarawak.

It covered various aspects of badminton coaching, sports science and technical knowledge.

The course was also supported by the Kuching Division Badminton Association.

Sarawak Sports Corporation chief executive officer Dr Ong Kong Swee in his closing speech said that constant collaboration with Dr Chin Ngien Siong of IPGKTAR and SSC had resulted in more badminton coaching courses being run over the years to improve the quality of coaches
to be competent with better training methods and updated knowledge of sports science in badminton.

He urged all those who have attended the course to play a vital role in developing badminton with passion and work together to improve the standard of badminton in Sarawak and Malaysia.

Ong said SSC would ensure coaches’ education remains a priority focus as it is important to have high quality coaches who possess the ability to disseminate the best practice of sports to the players.

He further extended his sincere gratitude to IPGKTAR director Hamsiah Abdullah Masni for her constant support towards the development of sports, Head of PE Department Salmi Lilek and her colleague Candrawati Ibrahim as well as BAM panel instructors Mutasham Katan and Johnny Ng for their contribution to the coaching course.
