Two men held over RM25,000 drugs

KOTA KINABALU: Two men will be put behind bars for the rest of their life after police caught them with close to RM25,000 worth of drugs here recently.

The suspects, aged 23 and 29, were arrested separately during two raids on Thursday in Kepayan and Lintas.

City police chief ACP M. Chandra said police seized about 101 grams of cannabis, 26 grams of ecstasy pills and 359 grams of ketamin believed worth RM25,000 in the market.

“The first raid was made at an apartment along Jalan Kepayan, Kobusak where police detained a 29-year-old man and seized six plastic packets of crystal-like substance believed to be ketamine weighing 300 grams, 100 ecstasy pills weighing 26 grams and 101 grams of cannabis.

“A couple of hours later, police from the narcotic division raided a house at Taman Ria in Lintas, Luyang and detained a 25-year-old man for possessing 59 grams of ketamin,” he told a press conference at the city police headquarters in Karamunsing here yesterday.

Police also confiscated numerous items such as RM2,800 money, foreign currencies, jewellery and two vehicles – a Perodua Myvi and a Perodua Kancil.

Both suspects are being remanded for investigation under Section 39B, Section 39A (1) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
