MIRI: Sarawak ranks third behind Federal Territory and Selangor in unit trust investment, with more than 19.26 billion units.
Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) chairman Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid also disclosed that the state was fifth in terms of the number of account holders behind Selangor, Federal Territory, Johor and Sabah, with 1.19 million account holders.
“The total amount of units in distribution currently stands at 187.80 billion subscribed by 12.07 million account holders throughout the country.
“Congratulations to the people of Sarawak and we are hoping Bumiputeras in the state will continue to give good support to PNB’s new product, which is Amanah Saham Bumiputera 2 (ASB 2),” he stated during the state-level launching of ASB 2 at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club (EVGCC) yesterday.
He attributed the increase in investment amounts to PNB’s ability in distributing consistent and competitive income and bonus besides preserving and extending the account holders’ asset value.
At the moment, he said PNB had distributed RM118 billion in dividends and bonus.
“PNB can be considered as a life-long investment institution. It is one of the institutions in the world that provides services to investors from the early age of six months throughout their entire life.
“Through the continuous support and trust given by its investors, PNB today is a house-hold brand with many achievements in the national unit trust industry,” he said.
With ten unit trust funds, PNB is now managing 187.80 billion units from 12.07 million account holders and the trust asset under the PNB management is around 15 per cent of the national capital market. On the launching of ASB 2 in Sarawak, he said it was the fourth in such series after Malacca, Perak and Terengganu.
As at Sept 15 this year, he said more than 1.22 billion units of ASB 2 had been distributed to 60,941 unit holders. He said for Sarawak, at Aug 31 this year, the number of units distributed was 104.81 million units held by 5,218 unit holders.
According to him, ASB 2 is an easy investment with affordable minimum initial investment of 10 units.
