KUCHING: Police last Sunday arrested a former convenient store worker at Jalan MacDougal here to facilitate investigation of an armed robbery at the store a day earlier.
The arrest of the 24-year-old suspect was made by a team of police from Kuching District Police Station at his house at Sungai Tengah, Matang here around 10.30am.
It was alleged that the suspect was at the store around midnight on Saturday. He was said to have demanded that some cigarettes be put inside a plastic bag as well as some money from the cash register.
He then threatened the cashier not to tell anybody about the matter.
The complainant however immediately notified the store manager and alerted the police after the suspect, who was known to him, fled the scene.
