Minister of Education Monitors Students’ Progress Leading to PSR

Bandar Seri Begawan: Several primary schools in the country have taken the initiative to conduct extra classes during this school holiday season for pupils who are sitting for the upcoming Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (PSR) or Primary School Assessment, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

To ensure that the extra classes run smoothly, a delegation from the Ministry of Education led by its Minister, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong made a working visit to three primary schools in the Brunei-Muara District.

The Lambak Kanan Primary School in Jalan 49 was the first school visited by the Minister of Education in the working visit. At the school, ninety one Year One pupils will sit for the PSR Examination. This school is one of the catalyst schools, which are given special focus in the initiative to improve the PSR achievement.

Eleven teachers including the Head Teacher of the school are involved in helping to teach pupils in the extra classes. The Ministry of Education delegation also visited the Dato Marsal Primary School in Brunei 2A.

At Pusar Ulak Primary School in Brunei One, Yang Berhormat Pehin and delegation viewed the running of the extra class held at the school. The Ministry of Education delegation also visited the new extension building which is still under construction.

Upon completion, the school can accommodate six hundred pupils. The visit the three schools showed the encouraging presence of the pupils including the presence of the pupils undergoing the Catalyst Schools PSR Objective Programme of the Ministry, at the Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah Sixth Form Centre.
