Miri hockey coach Rudi Naziri said the team has been training hard under coaches Anderson Paul and Janeter Kadir.

“Even though they were not trained on a proper hockey field, we are really hoping for the best,” he said adding that Miri did not have a hockey field and the athletes have been training on concrete ground.

According to him, this is the first time the club’s Under-14 team would be competing in a tournament outside Miri and he hoped the experience would provide them with the needed exposure to excel in the sport.

“All team members had worked hard to prepare for this and I know they will do their best throughout the tournament. I also hope this will have positive impacts on them and increase their knowledge in hockey,” he said.

Rudi expressed his gratitude to the management of Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang for letting the team train at the school field.

The team comprises six students of Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang, one student of SMK St Columba and four students of SMK Sebauh, Bintulu.
