SIBU: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) will conduct a study to determine the cause of knee pain among many senior citizens in Kampung Datu here.
The study, part of its community and health programme to be conducted next month, will be organised together with the Kampung Datu Baru and Kampung Datu Lama village safety and development committees (JKKK) for five weeks from Oct 11.
Kampung Datu Baru JKKK secretary, Hamdan Jaiee said the study would be conducted by a group of 31 Medicine and Health Sciences faculty students doing field work.
“We have informed Unimas of this phenomenon and they are willing to conduct the study to determine the real cause.
“The students will also conduct a study of the chain of three diseases which are diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease often seen in the villagers,” he said.
Residents from nearby Kampung Bandung, Kampung Nangka and Kampung Abang Barieng were invited to take part in the programme, he said. — Bernama
