HANOI: The Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) on Tuesday began a two-week joint air defence exercise at Brunei’s Air Force Base in Rimba.

The opening ceremony took place at the air force base with a parade participated by the personnel of both contingents, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.

The drill hopes to foster closer ties between RBAirF and RSAF and provide practical training for the Ground Base Air Defence (GBAD) operators of both sides.

It includes a wide range of activities such as aircraft recognition, simulator training, firefighting drill, live fire manoeuvre and battle procedure practice.

This year’s drill marks the 20th year of the bilateral exercise which ends Oct 14. –BERNAMA
