Commercial banks step up vigilance in relation to atm heists

KUALA LUMPUR: The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) yesterday assured the public that their member banks with automated teller machine (ATM) networks were collaborating closely with the relevant authorities with regard to the recent cases of ATM heists.

ABM said customers’ account balances and information have not been compromised in the reported incidents.

“Our member banks have stepped up their vigilance and enhanced security, and will continue to monitor and take preventive measures as necessary to protect customers’ data and safeguard their money in the banks,” said ABM in a statement.
